For Lawsy and Trev

In memory of Ian Laws

North East sports foundations, together with North East Mayor Kim McGuinness and the North East Housing Partnership, are coming together to make sure that no child is left on the sidelines with a campaign to raise funds to provide sporting opportunities for children across the region.

Story

The last few weeks have seen the Sunderland Echo lose two of its best-loved faces.

Our former Washington reporter Trevor Hoyland died just after Christmas after battling lung cancer and then digital editor and former SAFC reporter Ian Laws collapsed at home.

In memory of them both, I'm going to jump off the Stadium of Light!

I'm taking part in a sponsored zip wire challenge in April to raise funds for the SAFC Foundation and St Benedict's Hospice.

The Foundation was the charity Ian's family chose for donations after his death, while Trevor spent some time in St Benedict's during his illness, so I can think of no more fitting tribute to them both.

I know times are tough and everyone is feeling the pinch, but I hope everyone who knew Trev or Ian will find it in their hearts to donate whatever they can spare.

Thank you in advance.

PS - I know the page just refers to the Foundation, but proceeds WILL go to both.
