Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Ken was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in September 2011. After successful treatment and a long recovery he was able to spend time with his loving family and friends, return to work, play a bit of cricket and travel to many countries.
Unfortunately in September 2013 a new, inoperable tumour was found and Ken passed away on the morning of Saturday, 23 November 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Ken never once complained about his illness or his lot. He was so very brave and we are grateful for the extra time we were able to spend with him.
In his memory we wish to support these three charities which mean a lot to us. You can read about them and why they are important to us on their respective pages.
The Brain Tumour Charity
The Brain Tumour Charity is the UK’s largest dedicated brain tumour charity, committed to fighting brain tumours on all fronts.
Less than 2% of cancer research funding in the UK is spent on brain tumours.
Ken was treated with chemotherapy drugs researched and developed in the UK. Thanks to this we were able to spend two more wonderful years with him. This is an extraordinary long length of time for his type of illness and for which we are so very grateful.
Our last two years with Ken were a gift from previous research. We wish to help support The Brain Tumour Charity fund further research into brain tumours and their treatment in the hope that future developments can increase the length of time other families get with their loved one.
