Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm very proud, (yet slightly daunted by the challenge!), to be joining the University of Nottingham's Life Cycle Team this year, riding 170 miles to help in our target to raise £1million to enable University of Nottingham researchers to detect cancer early, stop cancer from spreading and develop personalised treatment for cancer sufferers.
This particular research means such a lot to me personally. The early detection of cancer would have made a life changing difference to both family members and close friends. Nottingham is home to the world's first blood test to detect lung cancer and the research platform is now ready to target breast and other solid cancers. We can make a genuine difference in combating this disease and developing effective treatment for cancer sufferers.
It's at this point that I should probably admit that I'm not much of a cyclist! (Those that know me well will know how laughable this is - my ability level is literally just off stabilsers!). Despite this I'm cycling the Way of the Roses in early June with a team of much more experienced riders (in fact, I think it may even be their warm up!). It's 170 miles from one side of the country to the other (Bridlington to Morecambe) with the minor hurdle of the Pennines inbetween! I have a lot of training to do but I'm up for the challenge if it means I can contribute to such an important cause. My personal target is £1000. If you're able to support me I would be ever grateful - no amount is too small.
