Story

I am dedicating this charity ride to the life and memory of a much loved friend and member of the Hawkwind family Rose Brady who sadly passed away today 6th June 2017.

Hello, I'm extremely proud to be selected as a member of the Heavy Metal Truants V team. On the 7th June 2017 I'm going to be cycling 170 miles from London's Alexandra Palace to Castle Donington. I shall be raising money for three worthwhile charities: Nordoff Robbins, Teenage Cancer Trust and NSPCC/Childline.

Obviously donations are pretty crucial to this being a success so this is where I'm asking for your help. Anything at all you can manage, no matter how small would be absolutely amazing to help us raise money for these  fantastic charities.

Nordoff Robbins is the largest independent music therapy charity in the UK, dedicated to changing the lives of vulnerable and isolated people. It supports thousands of people in its own centres and by working in partnership with a wide range of organisations including care homes, schools and hospitals. When delivered by a trained practitioner, music therapy can help a child with autism to communicate, reduce anxiety for those living with dementia or provide comfort and celebrate the life of someone facing terminal illness.

Teenage Cancer Trust are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. It funds and builds specialist units in NHS hospitals and provides dedicated staff, bringing  young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

ChildLine is the UK's free and confidential, 24 hour helpline for
children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort,
advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they
have nowhere else to turn. Children call ChildLine about a wide range of
problems, but the most common problems are abuse (both sexual and
physical), bullying, serious family tensions, worries about friends'
welfare and teenage pregnancy. Children and young people can call
ChildLine about anything – no problem is too big or too small. ChildLine
is a service provided by the NSPCC

RCN 280960
Nordoff and Robbins is the UK’s largest music therapy charity, with a unique approach shaped by more than 60 years of practice. Through the power of music, it breaks through the barriers caused by life-limiting illness, disability and social isolation. The charity does this through providing music therapy to people across the UK, whilst also training the music therapists of the future and funding research to measure and improve the impact of its work.
