Story
This page has been set up to commemorate the life and work of Professor Christian Kay by raising funds for a prize in her name for undergraduates in English Language and Linguistics at Glasgow. Christian died peacefully this year aged 76, and over the course of her long career she was an exceptional and generous scholar. She leaves a huge legacy of scholarship, and a great legacy of enormous kindness to her many students, colleagues and friends.
There is a prize for the best undergraduate dissertation in modern English language which already exists in Christian's name, which we have been paying for from Thesaurus royalties. We would like through this appeal to endow this prize in perpetuity, as a fitting memorial to the students and research to which she was so dedicated. (If not enough is raised to endow the prize permanently, we will aim to extend it for a significant number of years.)
