I’m attempting to run the 2013 London Marathon in memory of a dear friend of mine, Emily, who died suddenly in her sleep this year as a result of complications related to her Type 1 Diabetes. It was such a shock and she is so terribly missed by so many people.
She was an inspiration to us all, always setting herself new challenges and doing so much good work through her role as a mental health social worker and her committed fundraising for Diabetes UK. Emily wanted to run a marathon before she was 30 and had a place for the 2013 London Marathon; one that she’ll sadly never get to take up. So I’m part of a big team of her family and friends who will be doing it for her.
Despite being active, the marathon is something I’ve never had any desire to do (to put it mildly!). But Emily gave so much of herself to other people, always taking time to listen and provide such great advice and support to anyone who needed it. I just want to give something back as a fitting tribute to her.
Thanks very much for taking the time to visit my page and for making a donation. There are very few people in the world I would do this for, Emily was one of them.
