Story
I did it! And i really enjoyed it. Managed a total time of 3:07:57 which is loads better than i was expecting.
My nerves were in tatters waiting to go in but the swim started well and not only did i realise i could do this ok, but i wasn't actually last!
The bike was brilliant. I'm so unused to flat courses that I seriously thought i'd not done enough laps as it was quick. The tunnels were ace!
The run went really well too, i think it helped that there were lots of different abilities there so i never felt like i should be going faster or i was holding anyone up.
I don't know if i'll do London again as the sheer scale of it is just something else, but i'll definitely do another Olympic tri!
Thanks everyone for supporting me and my cause, I'm sure the childrens ward will put it to good use.
I can't resist a challenge, and this one will be a big one. 1500m swim, 40km bike ride and a 10k run.
I would like to raise some money for Hereford hospital childrens ward as my son Liam spent some time there in his first year as he had a number of things wrong. He got the best care and everyone was so nice. Looking back, it wasn't a great time, but, we were lucky, there's now nothing much wrong with him. Now he's just a typical 3 year old boy!
Oh, and i'm going to have all my hair cut off (hair will go to Little Princess Trust to make wig for children with cancer/hair loss).
I don't expect to have a very good finishing time - and in all honesty i will be pleased just to finish - but i've got a stubborn streak so hope that will carry me through!
