Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm sure most of you are aware that I was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, Wegener's Granulomatosis back in May 2011. Fortunately I was diagnosed quickly, for such a rare disease. It’s been hard for me to come to terms with the fact that this condition is for life. I could have a "flare up" at any time, or I could be lucky and never have symptoms again!
During my time with this condition I have made a great friend in Jacqui Moran, who was diagnosed at the same time as me. Together we have been supported by the wonderful Vasculitis UK charity.
Two things that the charity has made me aware of is not only the need for research but also the need for more awareness of the disease. This is not just awareness throughout the general public but more importantly by GPs and doctors as people are sometimes tragically dying due to an unnecessary delay in diagnosis and treatment.
So Jacqui and I are embarking on a 6 mile Thames River Walk on Saturday 22nd June. Our walk is not just to raise funds for this amazing charity but also to raise the much needed awareness, along the way.
