Story
On 29th November 2015 my Grandad, Lionel Findley, passed away after a short battle with cancer at the age of 85. In June of last year he had been given only a few months to live after being diagnosed with cancer for the second time.
He loved music, cars, horses and football. My Grandad was straight talking, generous and always there to give you his opinion whether you wanted to hear it or not! I lived with my grandparents and, with the rest of my family, helped to care for my Grandad as his health deteriorated. He was strong and brave to the end!
I've decided to run the Spartan Sprint on 9th April as a personal challenge and in my Grandad's memory, donate to Macmillan Cancer Support. Spartan Sprint is a 5K over 20 obstacles around the course which will be held the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. I've never participated in a run like this. I'll be the first to admit I'm a bit lazy and not the biggest fan of physical exertion, but I've joined the gym and I'm going several times a week! When I was younger my grandad joked that I had skinny little chicken legs! Well I'm still skinny, but I think he would have approved and he might have even been impressed that I was doing something like the Spartan Sprint!
Please donate or come and support me at the Olympic Park Stratford on the 9th April!
THANK YOU!!!! Kanika
