Story
Living in Manchester city centre as I’m returning home at the end of a long day, it is inevitable that I’ll pass some unfortunate soul who is homeless. Watching them huddled in the cold and rain, as I’m hurrying home I often wonder, that is someone’s loved one out there, begging to survive. I find myself asking why isn’t there anyone there to say a kind word, show love, or offer hope of a better future. I find myself being thankful and giving gratitude to the universe for a warm bed, hot showers, and everything else I take for granted. Booth Centre support hundreds of homeless people in Manchester on a daily basis, and I would like to offer my gratitude to the universe by helping them make this possible. Those of you that know me, know that I have never ran for the bus let alone 10K. I am excited and dreading it in equal measures, but if I can make life better for even one homeless person in any way, it will all be worth it. Can I please ask all of you my lovely FB friends to donate whatever little you can to help me raise money for this worthy cause.
The Booth Centre is a day centre that offers advice and activities for homeless people in Manchester. We provide advice, education and training to enable homeless people to find new homes, improve their health, increase their skills and confidence and to successfully resettle in the community.
Thanks for your support! Watch out for our runners on Sunday 22 May.
