Story
On 13th April 2017, my mum was diagnosed with stage 3c Ovarian Carcinosarcoma; a very rare type of cancer affecting less than 1% of those diagnosed. This is a terminal diagnosis with a grim prognosis; the care she receives is palliative. Having had two major operations on 22nd May 2017 and 4th December 2017 (meaning Christmas spent in hospital) and 6 gruelling cycles of chemotherapy in between, she was told here was no visible disease left in January 2018. Unfortunately, as of May 2018 is was confirmed her cancer has started to return and she started chemotherapy again at the start of September 2018, which will continue until early 2019
I cannot fault a single member of staff at Guy’s and St Thomas’ who have been involved in her treatment. It’s a cruel disease, and my mum has been so incredibly strong through the whole process. Any money raised will be so valuable to my mum, Kaylee’s mum and anyone else diagnosed with this awful disease.
