Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On August 4th last year, my wonderful father in law Bob, died of IPF. He was hugely loved by all of us and we dearly miss his silly jokes, never-ending font of knowledge and massive grin.
We've made up a team to spread the word, help those suffering now and raise awareness and much needed money to fund more research into finding a cure.
Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a terminal lung disease characterised by a progressive and irreversible decline in lung
function. IPF scars your lungs and so reduces the efficiency of your
breathing.
About 5 million people are affected globally. Average life expectancy following diagnosis is about four years. 5,000 people die each year from IPF in the UK - that’s 66% more than died in Road Traffic Accidents throughout 2017. Despite these statistics, the cause is unknown, it's poorly understood and there is no cure.
Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis was founded in 2013 by patients, family members & IPF specialists and focuses on improving the quality of life for patients with pulmonary fibrosis and funding research.
We've joined together to raise money for APF. You'll see our 'Bob's Bikers' team
fundraising page and target here - https://www.justgiving.com/teams/BobMasonsBikers.
