UNITED AGAINST DEMENTIA - THE 60600 CHALLENGE

I’m so proud to be part of the 60600 challenge - a group of marvellous people who are uniting against dementia with loads of different and difficult challenges and have so far raised more than £40,000.00. Now its my turn and on Sunday 10th September I'm going to complete The Great North Run. I ran the first one in 1981, and have been true to the pledge I made then to never put myself through it again. I haven’t even done anything that could be remotely described as ‘running’. But I've put the training in and I'm ready to make as much money as possible for the Alzheimer's Society - funding research and a better life for dementia sufferers and their families.

I’m scared but excited – this will be my golden opportunity to do something memorable. And as ever, I’ll have my mum Eleanor Shadforth in my heart all the way.

Thank you - it means a lot to me to know you're supporting me and that you have the heart to stand united with us against dementia
