Story
If you have been following us, you will know we have completed the ride (or at least Jesper alone ... Due to my broken collar bone) BUT we would like to extend our target to 3p per mile, so if you can, please donate!
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In August 2016, my step-son, Jesper Howe, and I are taking part in two week cycle ride, which involves us donning our lycra and cycling from Portsmouth to Rome in aid of Cancer Resarch. We are undertaking this with the Inspired Living team and Jesper and I are setting our target to raise a modest £1140 - £1.00 for every mile.
Unfortunately, in November 2014, my mum died from this horrible disease. Whilst living in France, she struggled with breast cancer for the second time, and then died from metastasis, a secondary cancer in her brain. She had previously been through treatment for breast cancer in 1995, when she had a mastectomy and we had all thought that she was in the clear, given how long it had been since her initial illness. Her mother and aunt had also died of this illness in their early 30's when mum was a young girl - mum was two months short of her 70th Birthday, so treatment has come on, but there is still much more to do.
Jesper’s grandfather has recently successfully treated for colon cancer, and his dad, Simon, was diagnosed 5 years ago with Myeloma, a cancer which effects the production of blood cells and the bones. Simon underwent stem cell therapy and at the moment has good health.
This is the first time that we have done any serious charity work, and we are planning on cycling approximately 85 miles a day, for 14 days, in order to raise money to help beat this horrible disease. Please support this cause if you can and we would welcome any contributions that you are able to donate.
