Did you know....? · Brain cancer is the most common form of cancer in people under 40 years. · It kills more children than any other illness in the UK. · In the UK 16,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour. · Brain cancer attracts only 1.5% of National Cancer Research institute spending. · No structured research base exists for brain tumours, therefore treatment options are limited. · No UK strategy for the treatment of, or research into brain cancer. The Challenge... I and my friend (Matthew Lee) are proactively raising money for ‘brainstrust’ by running the ‘Worksop Half Marathon’ on 31st October 2010. Your donation will enable ‘brainstrust’ to improve the lives of brain cancer sufferers and we can only do this because of your generosity. How to make a donation... 1. Sponsorship form:- Please ask for details and fill out the form. 2. Sponsor on line at “Just Giving”:- 3. Why.....? Matthew’s father, Keith, was 62yrs when he was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour last year. Confirmation that the tumour was incurable & his family were told it was impossible to operate due to the location of the tumour and the best they could hope for was medical treatments to slow the growth, with the eventual outcome that he would lose his life to the cruel illness. He did so in August 2010..... Following repeated searches for information Matthew and his family came across ‘brainstrust’. Here is an organisation someone could talk to, someone who understood their plight, and understood that every question was important to them, even the most trivial. This is an organisation that truly helps. It gives people the tools to use the information they need and removes “jargon”, brainstrust has been their inspiration.
Thank you for your kind generosity.
