Story
Our wonderful friends whom we met through our local NCT group arranged to do the Bliss Buggy Push on 16 July in memory of our little boy Jonathan.
Jonathan was born with a number of congenital problems including a serious heart defect, hydrocephalus and digestive system problems. Despite the doctors warning us that it would be unlikely that he would make it to birth, he was delivered at 38 weeks and we were blessed with spending almost 4 months with him before he sadly passed away in May this year.
Even though he spent the whole of his short life in hospital, he was a happy little boy who brought us a lot of joy. You can read more about Jonathan's story here: http://tromboneandfiddle.blogspot.com/
The Buggy Push that our friends did raised money for Bliss, a national UK charity dedicated to improving the survival and long-term quality of life for babies born too soon, too small or too sick to cope on their own. As part of their work, Bliss provides support to parents of special care babies and produces publications and a website with information for parents, all of which we have found really helpful.
The day of the Buggy Push turned out to be a typical London summer's day - grey, rainy and windy, with a bonus downpour thrown in at the finish line, but in a brilliant effort, all of our friends and Jonathan's little friends made it across the finish line in around an hour despite being very soggy.
The Buggy Push may be over but any donations you still wish to make to Bliss are more than welcome.
Thank you.
