Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my London Marathon 2014 JustGiving page.
Much against my better judgment I have decided to run the London marathon on the 13 April this year. I have been training since before Christmas and all is going according to plan - which is always a bit worrying. I have been building the mileage and recently managed a 17 mile run which took an embarrassingly long, 3 hours and 20 minutes….so you can imagine how long the marathon will take.
I am running to raise funds for the Alzheimers Society.
Alzhemeirs Society are the leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers.
There are 800,000 people with dementia in the UK and numbers are set to rise to one million by 2021. The society's fight for a better world for people with all types of dementia takes a wide range of forms. Through their network of local services, they touch the lives of over 30,000 people every week, providing practical services and support for people with dementia and their carers.
This is my first ever marathon and although I will have completed a half marathon and a 5K by the time the London marathon comes round, it is nevertheless a huge undertaking for me - not least the training time to run 26 miles!!
