We fund medical research to improve the lives of Lymphoma patients

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising funds for Waldenstrom's macroglobulinaema which Phil Manning long standing friend from university days has contracted. Phil has provided the following which describes the condition:

WM is a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. WM is treatable but not currently curable. Phil has undergone high-dose chemotherapy with stem-cell support with the intention that he will not require further treatment for several years. He is fortunate in that, being relatively young, he is eligible for such aggressive treatment. WM patients typically experience fatigue and exhaustion, blurred vision and mental confusion. They also have a compromised immune system and a risk of painful damage to their peripheral nervous system. WM can also give rise to secondary malignancies while death is usually due to heart or other organ failures. Being rare WM attracts relatively little in the way of research funds, although research could well throw light on ither commoner conditions to whicj WM is related.
