Story
Thanks a bundle for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running my third Hereford Half marathon in a row. I am hoping to beat both my previous years times of 1:47:03 and 1:44:29 and to break the 1:40:00 barrier.
Far more important is the charity I am running for. It is the Nepal International fellowship. I have known Mike Smith (ENT consultant at Wye Valley and Worcester Acute) since I moved to Hereford some 12 years ago. He has been involved in helping the poor and underpriviledged in Nepal for circa 30 years. He has lived in the region and regularly visits to treat people in the poor communities and the remote areas taking redundant UK equipment and fellow colleagues with him. The hearing disabled are the largest group of people with diabilities in Nepal
They have now decided to build a specialist Ear Treatment and Training Hospital in Pokhara, West Nepal. The hospital will be the first of its kind in the Western region of Nepal providing specialist services to the community, particuarly the poor in this region who are not able to travel to Kathmandu or Eastern Nepal for treatment.
They need to raise £500k to do this and every little helps. The hospital will provide quality medical, sugical and hearing aids and will in addition provide training and research into low cost intervention for patients with hearing disability.
Please sponsor me generously, it's a fantastic charity. You couldnt hope to meet a nicer couple than Mike and Fiona (his wife); they are two of the nicest people I have ever met and they are doing great work for these vulnerable people.
I have run the Hereford half marathon for the last 2 years in aid of St Micheals hospice in Hereford.
