Story
Hello,
Firstly thanks for visiting my page and thinking about
sponsoring me!
Here's the reason I'm looking to fundraise for Crohns &
Colitis UK!
Many of my friends and colleagues will be completely
unaware, but I was unlucky enough to be diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in
2010, 9 days after being told I had this condition I was blue lighted between
hospitals for a 5hr emergency operation to remove my severely inflamed colon.
After recovering from the op things got back to normalish...well for a couple
of years, then the Colitis decided to re-appear in what was left of my large
bowel.
Forward to March 2016 where I had my 3rd major operation to
essentially remove what was left of my large bowel and the condition. The
condition is severely debilitating, painful and has a huge impact on day to day
life. Numerous hospital appointments, living on prednisolone, immunosuppressants,
and various other medications which all had no effect on this autoimmune disease.
Going out somewhere was a struggle as it was like living with constant
diarrhoea, and we all know how bad that is for a few days ;). I knew every
toilet in the area and further afield :).
After my final operation I felt alive again and started to
be able to get out and about, started running in July 2016, where at the time I
could only manage 2k in 22 mins...to where I am now, thats nearly my 5k time!.
Loving the running, getting fitter and faster and feeling good!
So I decided to run the Great North Run and try and raise a
few pennies for a cause that affected me hugely, and where hopefully they will
one day find a cure or at the least find more about this horrible condition
which I wouldn't wish on anyone!
I'd be hugely grateful for any sponsorship even the odd £ or
so!
