Joe Paton and around 14 friends will be taking an amazing trip back in time to celebrate Joe’s discharge from Liverpool’s Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery on 9th July 2010.
Joe started his medical journey at Southport Hospital in 1997 and was transferred to The Walton Centre in 1998—where a brain tumour was diagnosed. The first leg of his adventure was to learn to walk again and, over the years, Joe has had many mountains to climb on his journey back to health—but he has managed to scale them all.
On Thursday 17th March at 9.30am, Joe and a group of his family and friends will set out from Southport Hospital for a 17 mile walk to the Walton Centre—retracing Joe’s return to health. The walk will finish at about 3.30pm and Joe hopes to use the walk to help raise funds for Neurosupport and the Brain Tumour Support Group which have been a constant source of help and friendship during his journey.
Joe says ‘The friendly smiles and arms round the shoulder of Neurosupport and the Brain Tumour Group have been a godsend during my illness. Now I have finally been discharged this is my way of saying a big thank you to them personally and for the work they do for others.’
Half the money raised will go to the Brain Tumour Support Group and half to Neurosupport
Many thanks for giving
