Update 02/09/2010: We made it to Land's End at 6:30pm on Tuesday 31/08/2010 after cycling over 1000 miles in ten days. The challenge was an unforgettable experience and I would like to thank all those who supported us and gave us encouragement. If you would like to read more about our journey visit:

Hello!
We have set ourselves the challenge of cycling from one end of the country to the other in 10 days to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. There will be three of us riding the 980-odd miles from Scotland, through England to Lands End:
Dan Doherty and Craig Bremner, Mott MacDonald
Thomas Spenkuch, University of Southampton
We depart on Sunday the 22nd of August from John O' Groats and make our way south, using only pedal power, averaging just under 100 miles a day and 7 to 9 hours in the saddle. We will be riding unsupported with only the items we are carrying to help in case of breakdowns.
A few words about Cystic Fibrosis and the Trust:
Cystic Fibrosis is an uncurable genetic disease and affects over 8,000 people in the UK. It affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.
I lost my brother, Ben, to Cystic Fibrosis in 2008. He was 23 years old. Each week, three young lives are lost to Cystic Fibrosis. Average life expectancy is around 31 years.
I hope to raise money to be used to help research into a cure for CF as well as treatment of the symptoms.
So please sponsor us now!
Thank you so much for your sponsorship.
Dan.
