Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I don't generally ask for charity contributions for running races, because I run a lot of races and I feel uncomfortable about asking people for money. However, I've lost two good friends to cancer recently - Chris Russon (who I ran several marathons with, as well as rowed behind) and John Stewart (another crewmate, who was no stranger to endurance-racing either, albeit on a bike). Both of them were ripped away from us well before their times by untreatable cancers, leaving massive holes in our lives. So I'll be running this one for them, and (as ever) they'll be there with me as I cross the finish-line.
Don't feel you have to contribute, but if you do want to, please give whatever you feel is appropriate via the donate button top-right, in the knowledge that it'll go towards making currently-untreatable cancers treatable, and preventing others losing their friends to this wretched fate. If you do donate, I know that they would have smiled and raised their glasses to you in appreciation. Then overtaken you on the finish-line, just when you thought you were safe... :-)
Boilerplate blurb - Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast, totally secure, and definitely won't give you herpes. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails, despite their ghastly webapp. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. Plus they sort out the gift-aid stuff to lever an extra 25% out of an unwilling H.M govt. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Yada yada yada...
