LVS AScot Junior School Marathon Walk · 29 June 2013

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Mrs Earl and I - aka Bodger and Badger  - and Mrs Le Bellec aka Mousie -  are going to put ourselves right out of our comfort zone in our attempt to walk / yomp....hopefully not stagger too much !!.... this marathon to raise money to help further research into Parkinsons' Disease.  We have never done anything like this before.

I'm supporting Mrs Earl's charity choice as she has seen first hand, through the last ten year's of her dad's life, the misery and distress that the disease causes the sufferer and their families.

Statiscally 1 in 500 of us will get it  - 1 in 20 of those will be under the age of 40 - and it is a progressive neurological disease with no known cure.

The loss of nerve cells in the brain causes the symptoms of Parkinsons's disease to appear.

There's currently no cure for Parkinson's and we don't yet know why people get the condition.

Parkinson's Disease doesn't directly cause people to die, but sadly a variety of symptoms: tremors, rigidity, loss of memory, loss of speech, hallucination and dememtia get worse over time.

Many, many thanks for sponsoring us.

We hope our efforts will make a contribution towards a finding more answers, if not a cure.

We will certainly both do our best to complete the whole  26 miles 385 yards.

It seems such a long way.......now where did we put our trainers.....??

Again - all our thanks for your support.
