Story
This June, my 3-legged pooch and I will be setting off on a 70-mile walk across the Lake District, known as the Cumbria Way. We will walk from Ulverston to Carlisle over 5 days, taking in 3 mountain summits, carrying everything we need and camping along the way.
Following an accident whilst playing as a puppy, Troika broke one of his back legs beyond repair and it had to be amputated. The veterinary treatment must have been very expensive and, later, his previous owner could not afford to keep him any more and gave him to the animal shelter.
I met Troika when he was 18 months old and we have been inseparable ever since. He is now 7 and, through love and care, is still in great shape and has climbed almost one third of the Lakeland Fells.
This venture is being undertaken to raise money for Tailwaggers Club Trust - a charity that helps needy people pay for unexpected or large veterinary bills. These grants can, literally, make the difference between life and death for many beloved pets.
It seems so sad that, had someone not invested in Troika all those years ago, he would not have had the happy and fulfilling life that he has. Let's make a difference by giving owners the resources to help their pets survive!
In the event that Troika and I do not complete the walk for any reason you may wish to have your donation, or part of it refunded. In this case you should apply direct to: Tailwaggers Club Trust, PO Box 1008, Maidenbower, Crawley, RH10 7PY.
