Story
What? Everyone knows the word 'marathon', but I don't think a lot of people fully grasp it. To put it in perspective, imagine running from the south coast of England to the Isle of Wight. Tired? Well ,do it again. And again. And AGAIN. Now, do it another, wait for it... TWENTY times. Ok, you're knacked, soon you can rest... after you've done it another FIVE times. And that is marathon distance. It is a fearsome distance to travel on legs.
Why?: In January, a two year old girl named Sienna, a friend of my family, was diagnosed with cancer and is in Great Ormond Street Hospital where she has just begun intense chemotherapy. Her fight is being documented by her mum Emma and her dad Darren: http://www.facebook.com/SiennasJourney
A couple of people have said that running a marathon is 'brave'. I read Sienna's page and can tell you, I dont know the meaning of that word. This little girl, however, does. Sienna's mum and dad are trying to raise a very modest amount of money. Doing this for them might just get them to their total.
The funds will also support the hospital on behalf of Milli on and on: http://www.justgiving.com/teams/millionandonhome This is a charity set up by friends of a friend who lost their daughter, but use their time with her to raise as much as possible for kid's charities.
