Story
Did you know ……...
Only 1 in 10 blind / visually impaired people have a Guide Dog?
It costs in excess of £50,000 for the breeding, training and placement of a Guide Dog?
Guide Dogs for the Blind receive no funding support from the Government?
This is why Guide Dogs for the Blind need our help.
We visited the Guide Dog Training Centre in Leamington Spa. On the back of this visit we all saw first hand just what a difference these special dogs make to enhancing the lives of blind / visually impaired people. As a result of this visit we have as a Team decided to raise the minimum amount of £5,000 in order to 'Name a Puppy' so that it can start it's training to become a fully trained Guide Dog.
When we visited Leamington Spa we heard from a visually impaired lady called Penny, who described the day when she received her first Guide Dog and how she felt a huge sense of achievement and freedom. At last she was free from a world of darkness and she was able to gain independence which she had never experienced. Things we all take for granted - going to the shops, going out for a walk, she had until the day her dog arrived been locked out of such things and dependent on the kindness of other 'people'. From here on in she was independent - her confidence and outlook were changed forever.
We want more people to achieve this independence that we take for granted and we would need your help to make it happen. All we need is for you to sponsor the guys, and of course Lisa, anything from as little as a £5 donation will be gratefully received. We have all signed up to do a 13 mile walk around Bewl Water. We will be working together as a Team to raise the funds and achieve the £5,000 target to make a Widows Pup a reality.
