We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

Whilst holidaying in Australia in July my daughter Jenna, who will be 5 in October, took chickenpox, little did we know what it would leave her with.

She was rushed into Ward 20 Wishaw General Hospital as soon as we arrived home, seriously ill and told she was Type 1 insulin dependent diabetic.

Thanks to the hard work and care of the doctors and nurses she lived through it and is still here to fight it.

She needs 5 injections of insulin a day to remain healthy, and live as normal a lifestyle as a girl her age can. One brave wee girl has inspired a few friends and family to do something to say thank you to the ward that saved her and the research that got her through it.

As of the 1st of November 2010, a few family, friends and work collegues are doing a MOvember type fundraiser, we will be growing a moustache for the whole of the month, with a big shave off on the 30th!!!!!

I am trying to raise money equally for Ward 20 Wishaw General Hospital and Diabetes UK, all donations made through this site will go to Diabetes UK and private donations will go to the hospital ward who relies solely on fundraising to keep up the great work it achieves with sick kids, making their stay in hospital more bearable, with the use of games consoles, tv`s, dvd players, playgroup and toys.

"Diabetes UK is the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people live with the condition." diabetes uk website

All donations big and small greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

James and family
