James's UK Police Unity Tour 2015 page

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
I have been a serving Metropolitan Police Officer for the last 11 years. Unfortunately during the course of my career I have known colleagues who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Care of Police Survivors (COPS) is dedicated to helping surviving families rebuild their lives after the death of a police officer on duty. It aims to provide the survivors with all the help they need to cope with such a tragedy whilst remaining part of the police family.
The Police Unity Tour originally started in 1997 in the United States with cyclists making the journey from New Jersey to Washington DC.
It has grown significantly now involving Police Services from around the world. The UK London chapter sets off from the National Police Memorial on The Mall; making the 180 mile journey across six counties to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire for a memorial service.
Each rider will wear a memorial wristband displaying the name of an officer who has died in service. I shall be riding in memory of Constable John Robinson Olphert who died on the 18th January 1983, aged 39. He was fatally shot by terrorist gunmen in Londonderry. In the article below, PC Olphert’s son writes about his fathers murder:

Please visit the websites and donate if you can for a cause which is close to my heart and for a charity which helps the most vulnerable families at the most tragic of times.
I look forward to letting you know how it goes
