Story
Between 7th August and 14th August I'll be cycling coast to coast on The Hadrian's Wall Route, from Ravenglass on the West coast to South Shields on the East coast, then back again on The Reivers Route from North Shields to Ravenglass. A trip of around 350 miles. I'll be taking this trip alone and unsupported, and I'll be camping en-route (wild camping, but don't tell anyone!)
Of course, the main purpose of the ride is to fulfill a personal goal, I've cycled coast to coast before, but never there and back again. The second, but more important purpose is to raise much needed funds for Sustrans. For those of you who don't know, Sustrans created, owns and manages much of the National Cycle Network, of which there is some 14,000 miles across the UK. As a charity they rely entirely on donations for the upkeep and maintenance of this fantastic facility, and to fund the core costs of a large, national charity. Their other work in promoting healthier travel options, safe routes to schools and work in the community is too diverse to discuss here, so a visit to their website (www.sustrans.org.uk) is advised.
