Jama's Charity Trek 2018

Charity Trek 2018 · 17 November 2018
Hi everyone,
On the 17th of November 2018 I joined the University of Birmingham Islamic Society in climbing up Cadair Idris and managed to raise money for the East Africa Drought in Somalia.
Donations link is still open so please donate whatever you can to this amazing cause!
The outbreak of the Somali civil war back in the 1990’s. Has left Somalia in a devastating state of no stable government, resulting in millions of Somalis
having to flee and seeking refuge in various countries around the world. Unfortunately, for the approx. 14 million who stayed behind, the severe repercussions of the aftermath have made them suffer for far too long.
From continuous conflicts, displacing many Somalis from
their homes and leading to unnecessary casualties. Severe recurring droughts
making it difficult for farmers and herders to produce crops and feed
livestock. And the shortage of food resulting in chronic hunger and the threat
of famine. Has left millions of Somalis in dire need of assistance and support!
Just to put things into perspective:
- 1 in 10 babies die before they reach their 5th birthday (World Bank, 2016)
- Life expectancy is just 56 years old (World Bank, 2015)
- 2 million people do not have regular access to food (UN World Food Programme, 2017)
- 388,00 children under the age of 5 are acutely malnourished (UN World Food Programme, 2017)
The money raised will help deliver food parcels, water, setup boreholes and mobile clinics to treat those affected by the crisis.
So please donate to this amazing cause so we can raise as
much as we can to provide aid to Somalia.
"And whoever saves one- it is as if he has saved
all of mankind........." (Surat Ma'idah 5:32)
