I'll continue in english so I just have to right it once :-) if somebody needs translation, let me know! 

 

On October 26,27 and 28th I will be participating in the very first Challenge that GVI Mexico is organizing to raise funds for our Charity Trust projects. I will be kayaking and cycling through the Sian Ka'an Biosphere. 

The Challenge: 

Day 1 - 20km kayaking! 

- Starting point: Pez Maya base where we will adventure into the mangrove system 

- Ending point: Paso Lagartos. 

It will take us about 5 hours! Then we will spend the night camping on the beach :-) 

Day 2 - 20 km kayaking!

With an early start, we will continue the adventure through the mangroves all the way to Punta Allen.

... other 5 hours wtih an resting night in this fisherman's village where I've met lovely people.

Day 3 - 56km biking!

As if it wasn't enough with two days rowing, we will be cycling back from Punta Allen to Tulum on the very bumpy road through the Reserve.

It will be quite intense but it is for a good cause: I am raising funds for a Charity Trust projects,  in whitch I participated since I've been back to Mexico in 2009:

 

80% for Establishing a recycling centre in Punta Allen: the community has been working towards the construction of a recycling centre where they can store all the rubbish they are separating. The money will be used to help building the centre, to buy recycling bins for town, and to give mantainance to the centre.

The other 20% will be for Amigos de Sian Ka'an (ASK) Marine Ecosystem projects: ASK is an NGO in which I am presently working. They are the major partners of GVI (where I've also been working in 2009-2010). Some of their achivements are the creation of "no take" zones in the reef, protected areas and management plans for the region. The money will be used to buy equipment like BCDs, regulators, tanks, gps and other bits that they need to continue working on their different projects.

Both projects are very important and are helping to the conservation of our ecosystems. So... I will really appreciate if you give me a hand to reach and maybe exceed my target :)
