Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My Name is Deirdre and I have been inspired to raise money for the East Anglia Children's Hospice - Tree House Appeal. This Charity is going to raise 3 million pounds to build a New and much needed Hospice for children in this region. Please visit their web site to see just how impressive the new Hospice will be. Well, my motivation for raising money for the hospice is two fold. First and foremost I believe and always have in the amazing work that Hospices do for children and Adults who are facing Life threatening conditions and ultimately End of Life, and require specialist support and care to enable them to Live and die well , when the time comes. Hospices enable this to happen and provide the specialist care needed in a homely / loving environment where Family members can be fully involved in the care of their relative, whilst being supported themselves.
Secondly I am a mum and can only imagine how desperate and sad a parent must be, having to care for a desperately sick child and for some, watching their son or daughter die. Therefore the opportunity to help fund a world class Children s Hospice in this region is one I cannot ignore. In order to raise just a small amount towards the building of the Hospice I have decided to train my English Bull Terrier (Jack) up to the Silver Canine Good Citizen Award. Please believe me that whilst this challenge may not compare to some of the amazing feats of endurance we have all seen recently on television, Training a dog, especially a stubborn Bull Terrier is no mean feat. I am setting up a separate Blog 'Jacksbigtrain' so anyone interested can follow our Progress, and when I have achieved my goal I shall publish a photo of our Award to prove We did it. The Standards for training are set by the Kennel Club and can be viewed on their web site. The award is only given after a comprehensive test by an accredited independent trainer
