Story

The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation was set up in memory ot Lt John 'JT' Thornton RM who was tragically killed in Afghanistan on 30th March 2008.

Through his life he was able to achieve in inredible ammount from flying with the Red Arrows to traveling New Zealand. 

He joined 2358 (Ferndown) Sqn Air Cadets in 1998 and rose to the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer. During his cadet career completed the challanging Junior Leaders course and was named top student.

John lived his dream and died doing the job he loved. The aim of the JTYAF  if to encourage and assist young people to 'climb as high as they can dream'. Whatever their dream, the JTYAF hopes to help them achieve it

About the charity

The objective of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation is to encourage and assist young people to 'climb as high as they can dream', by providing annual scholarships and bursaries for their training and personal development in the pursuit of their ambitions.
