I first had this crazy idea last year and have been mulling it over since then. More lately I've been planning details such as routes and equipment I'll need to take. It's obviously a massive challenge for me personally and the thought of my pain being someone else's gain came to me recently so I'm setting up giving pages for three charities which are close to my heart due to family and friends having been affected by debilitating and terminal conditions which are supported by these charities. I've set a target of £600 for each and you make your choice. Incidentally this works out at just over £1 per mile given the total distance of around 1600 miles. I hope you think my pain is worth at least that; which is to say nothing about the work of the charities. I will be travelling on my own unsupported and carrying camping gear. I hope to have a blog set up or some other means to keep everyone informed of my progress so you should be able to track me. My flight to Barcelona is booked for 9th March and I expect to take about five or six weeks to get home. So wish me luck and dig deep for the charities.
Cheers
John L.
