Story
Hi I like walking but not so great with the talking so I stole Ron's words:
It is 2019 and team IRE have reassembled, to raise money for Alzheimers UK by walking 26 miles across the peak district!
Naturally you are wondering who/what is team IRE?
Issi and Ed, the I&E in team IRE, a father daughter duo, and a veritable powerhouse of endurance. I am Ron, the R in team IRE, a doughy south asian man who is doing his best to keep up.
Last year we teamed up to raise money by completing the Yorkshire three peaks in 10.5 hours. This year we have combined our might once more to raise money for Alzheimers Research UK.
Ed will be handling all aspects of transport and celebratory pints. I suspect this is mostly so we don't look too bad by comparison, he was literally bouncing with energy post Yorkshire three peaks, whilst Issi and I were doing our best to keep shuffling along.
Issi has prepared by training for a half marathon, she is gunning for a PB. Any guesses when this half marathon is? If you guessed six days before the 26 mile walk then give yourself a big pat on the back #13MilesIsJustAWarmUp.
To prepare myself I cannily signed up for the Welsh 15 peaks aka the Welsh 3000s, 15 peaks in Wales all over 3000 feet in elevation. The challenge was split over three days: seven peaks day one, five peaks day two, three peaks day three.
Day one I managed seven but it was apparent that I did not have the downhill pace required complete five on day two and three day three. I managed three day two and two day three. How many is that now? That's right twelve, I will be back for the three that got away one day...
All donations, words of encouragement, discouragement, plain old couragement etc. much appreciated.
