We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

On the 21st of August 2005 I hope to complete the greatest challenge of my life and that is the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and the 26.2 mile run that makes up the Ironman race. http://www.ironmanuk.com/

Having completed Half Ironman UK 2004 (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run) I have decided to take the plunge and go one better. For the many people that compete in triathlon they know that this is the ultimate goal of many Racers. For those that don't race or compete it just looks like shear madness. Well it is both, and the chance to step across the finish line and say I am an Ironman is worth it.

So with that I am hoping to raise some money for cancer research along the way. I have chosen this charity as cancer has touched my life; my mum has battled against it twice and won. But it is also touched the life's of some close friends of mine more recently, so it is for them as well that I aim my fund raising.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
