I'll be doing the Great North Run in September along with friends & colleagues at Sage to support Cancer Research UK.
This will be my second GNR, and the first as part of such a big team with over 200 runners from all across Sage. It's really exciting to see the amount we could raise for this cause as a team and imagine the difference it could make. Cancer Research hopes to raise enough money from the Great North Run to fund a year of clinical trials into genetic links to bowel cancer which would help earlier detection and treatment of the disease, and if Team Sage reaches its fundraising target we'd represent around 1/10th of that funding.
I'm hoping to beat my previous Great North Run time in which I sadly got caught with an injury 1/2 way round and limped my way to 1h38ish - althought not as fit (or young) as I was then I'm cautiously hoping for a time in the 1h30-1h35 region and to make it all the way round in one piece!
