Hi everyone
I have set up this page in memory of Ian Elford who sadly died at the beginning of February after a 2 year fight against Leukaemia. I have known Ian for around 15 years, when he started the Kent franchise of Dolphin Lifts. Ian was always a good friend with a dry and sometimes outrageous sense of humour, and an opinion to offer.
He loved his big bikes and touring (in good weather) with his pals. When Ian announced his diagnosis in November 2007, he did so with his normal light hearted wit, describing it as a bout of 'Man Flu' and despite undergoing exhaustive and often unpleasant treatment, always remained positive and upbeat. I was sure he would beat it, but sadly it wasn't to be. Ian leaves behind his wife Margaret, daughters Rosa and Kate and son James, and grandchildren he won't get to see grow up. He always had great plans for his retirement which have sadly been cut short.
Although Ian retired from the business shortly after his diagnosis, and many of us haven't seen much of him since, he will be missed by all his friends at Dolphin.
I have known several people affected by Leukaemia, some have beaten it, others like Ian have not. Please donate generously to Leukaemia research, so they can find some more answers, and stop more people being taken from their loved ones prematurely.
Over the coming days and weeks, we will update this page and will create links from our website to try and generate cash for this worthwhile charity.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
If you are returning to this page and have already donated, we would all like to thank you for your generosity and kind words, It means a lot to Ian's family.
