Ian takes up the story......................

My daughter Libby Pearl was born six weeks early and spent a number of days in the Special Care Baby Unit at Leicester General Hospital. I will never forget the 'round the clock' vigil of sitting by her cot, with fingers crossed, hoping that she would gain strength so that we could bring her home. After 10 days of being in hospital Libby was "discharged" with a clean bill of health and my wife and I were both relieved and excited.

Sitting in the SCBU ward, watching other anxious parents, as they too watched over their little ones, I vowed I'd put something back into Special Care for babies whenever I could. Bliss is a charity that gives hope, support and advice to parents of babies born too soon or born with illness - a charity that has touched my life and helped numerous others.

So together with my friend, Duncan Hanslow, we have vowed that as two dads we will 'conquer' the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in one day. All the money we raise will go directly to Bliss. My way of saying thankyou for all the support we received from SCBU.
