Fundraising for Prostate Cymru
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am organising and taking part in a charity ride from Barcelona to Monaco to raise funds for Prostate Cymru. There will be 48 cyclists and 3 support vans.
We have all individually paid £1300 for the trip to ensure ALL money raised goes directly to the charity and none is taken out to cover the event.
We need to raise funds for the charity. Our aim is to raise as much as possible, so any contributions will be very much welcomed and appreciated.
The trip will take 9 days and will cover just over 850 miles, it is termed as an extreme cyclothon! We are from all walks of life; from Furnace Workers to Consultant Surgeons to Tree Surgeons to Builders to a couple of chip shop owners.
Personally, it's a charity close to my heart as we recently lost my father-in-law to prostate cancer and my mother to breast cancer. Both were in their 70's much loved and had previously been fit and well.
I know from experience that being a businessman and an individual one gets asked all the time for money or sponsorship but any kind of donation would be appreciated. Unlike lots of other fund raising events ALL OF THE MONIES RAISED WILL GO TO DIRECTLY to Prostate Cymru.
I'd like to point out that we have all individually paid the cost for this event ourselves....I started training 1st Oct '15 and to date have covered 3734 miles which is 156 hours in the saddle alone with my biggest ride being 111 miles.
At times I have felt that it was too big a goal for me to achieve but I've stuck at it. This journey has been a lot harder and tougher than I ever thought and I'm not built for cycling but the battle for fighting for cancer awareness and research has driven me. We all have encountered cancer in all its different forms sometime during our journeys through life and this money will be used wisely...I have lost 2.5 stone and have started walking a little like John Wayne but speaking like Minnie Mouse but my family are getting used to that now!
We are setting off on Saturday 17th September from Barcelona and arrive in Monaco on Saturday 25th September.
