As part of Bishop Fleming's centenary year celebrations, we have committed to raising £100,000 for charity between us.

I am joining 40 colleagues from across our firm in attempting the National 3 peaks Challenge on 21st June. This challenge involves climbing the highest peak in each country in the UK - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon - within 24 hours, including the travel between each. This is 23 miles of walking, 460 miles of driving and over 10,000ft of vertical ascent - eek!

I have chosen to support Cancer Research UK. Going through Cancer and its treatment has had such a profoundly devastating impact on my life, and I wasn't even the one who had it. Back in 2005, in your mid-twenties with a cancer diagnosis, all you were handed was a leaflet explaining how you could be "made comfortable" as you went through your treatment - this was not what you wanted to hear.

Nowadays, the messages out there are all about "Beating Cancer", "F*#k Cancer", "Stand Up To Cancer" and there are statistics to prove that this is a fight and it can be won!
