Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As most of you are aware, 2 years ago I was part of a project to design and build a school in South Africa, Project Jouberton. It was a great success and 2 years on it still looks as good as new. However, this year I am involved yet again. In April/May 2011, myself, the two Johns, a few volunteers and a team of 40 second year Architecture students along with a handful of fifth years from the University of Nottingham will be traveling to the Limpopo district to build another pre-school (Project Limpopo).

In light of the success of the Jouberton project, Education Africa have given us a site in Calais Village, North West South Africa and briefed our team, lead by professionally qualified Architects and lecturers, to design another innovative, creative, practical and sustainable Pre School, accommodating the education of eighty 0-5 year olds. The students and myself, as before, will be designing, learning the construction techniques in the UK and then going out to build the design ourselves and consequently are now looking to raise the £100,000 needed to fund the building materials, transport for materials and logistics involved to turn our Pre School design into a facility able to shape the futures of these South African children
for years to come...

As part of the Project Limpopo team I am hoping to contribute to raising the necessary funds required. I am proposing a tough task for myself which involves a few extreme sporting events. Currently I am signed up for the BMF Military 10km Run

http://www.bmfadventures.com/adventures/challenges-and-races/13/military-5k-and-10k-london - the day before we fly out! (if anyone would like to join me you're more than welcome!)

I am aiming to complete another 2 or 3 other events to raise money for Project Limpopo either before or after the build. I think I am slightly crazy!

Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to read about this project and for all your support, if you think you have some spare change and you would like to donate, every penny counts and it can really change the lives of these children.
Love to you all
Helen xx
