Enabling our patients’ better access to the great outdoors
ICU is currently undertaking a project to raise much needed funds to adapt Courtyard13, a garden area situated just outside the unit to allow staff to take patients outside.
We believe that patients recovering from critical illness would benefit greatly from use of this area as they may be taken into an place that is away from the hustle and bustle of intensive care and into a peaceful environment but still remain in close proximity to the unit.
Having access out would be part of their rehabilitation plan.
Adapting this area is costly. We have had a rough estimate of £6000 to clean the gardenup, make it safe and adapted to meet our patients needs. Our fundraising campaign has started and all moneys received will go into the ICU Trust Fund, subset ‘Let’s go outside project’.
Staff are considering fund raising options, which will include; cake sales, raffles,sponsored events, this just giving page and anything else we can think up.
A fundraising thermometer on the unit will be updated monthly to show our progress.
