Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 16th May 2014, my mother and I will be jetting off to Peru to undertake the huge challenge of climbing the Inca Trail to reach Machu Picchu. I have chosen to do this not only as a personal fitness goal, but also to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support to say thank you to them for the great support they were to my Grandparents while my Granny was in her final stages of cancer. Having been first diagnosed with cancer at the ageof 45, she thought she had beaten the cancer but it returned just before she turned 60 and sadly she died aged just 62. My Granny was not the only family member to have been beaten by cancer. My Granda also died from cancer at the young age of 66 after having suffered from it for a couple of years.
This challenge involves trekking for more than 30 hours over 5 days, with 3000 steps to climb on the last day, which, for my mother and I who are not exactly the fittest of people, will find to be a very tough challenge. We have set ourselves a target of raising £6600 between us, so any donation however small will be greatly recieved and will go towards providing excellent care and support to other families touched by this terrible illness.
