Story
Hello!
Thank you so much for helping us support Hospiscare; we appreciate it more than we could ever express.
As most of you are aware, Pete and I lost our dad 4 and a half years ago to Bowel Cancer after living with Colitis for 13 years. He was an amazing father to us, husband to mum and a brilliant friend to many. Generally, I think you'd all agree that he was a top man. Never one to let anything get him down, he was gracious, humorous and selfless to the end.
Dad never failed to put a smile on our faces and we both have endless memories that still make us laugh out loud. He was a brilliant man with a generous heart, a fast wit and a serenity that could calm you instantly. Not to mention a brain that could store a remarkable amount of Python, Pete and Dudd and Blackadder quotes, ready to spout at any given moment, whether appropriate or not.
We remember him in this way every day and would like to celebrate him in the positive way that he taught us to. Hospiscare treated dad with the dignity and respect that he deserved and his care was remarkable. Thank you for helping us to support them in their care for those who need and deserve similar treatment and to allow their families the peace of mind required at such a time.
So, with that in mind, we decided to cycle from John O'Groats to Land's End, which is a mere 943 miles. That's a whole lot of saddle sore right there - surely that alone is worth a tenner?
Tom and Soph will be cycling from John O'Groats in July. From there, we will meander (ha ha - it sounds so pleasant) down to Bristol where we will collect Pete. The three of us will then make the 3 day cycle down to Land's End to peel ourselves off our bikes and hurl them into the ocean.
We'll be cycling an average of 80-90 miles per day for the best part of two weeks so your money will be well earnt!
