We provide respite and end of life care to make the most of short & precious lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Bishop Fleming is celebrating its centenary year and we are aiming to raise £100,000 for charities.  I am joining a team of colleagues to complete the Three Peaks Challenge on the weekend of 21st and 22nd June.  Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon (the highest peaks in each of Scotland, England and Wales) all climbed in 24 hours - 23 miles of walking, 10,000 ft of vertical ascent and 460 miles of driving.  My training is tough and painful with plenty of Espom Salt Foot Soaks!  This is going to be a challenging adventure, but all for a fantastic cause.....

Children's Hospice South West who care for children with life-limiting conditions by providing children's hospice and professional family support services.  They are dedicated to making the most of short and precious lives through the provision of the best possible hospice care for children who are not expected to survive into adulthood.

Their 3 hospices across the South West support more than 500 children and their families: Little Bridge House in Devon, Little Harbour in Cornwall and Charlton Farm in North Somerset.  They provide specialist palliative care, respite for the whole family, a sibling service for brothers and sisters, emergency support, end of life care and a bereavement service for as long as is needed.  The care offered at each of their hospices is not just about medical and nursing support for sick children but enriching the lives of the children and their whole family.

The families they support say it's the little things that make a big difference: being able to sleep through the night knowing their child is being well cared for, enjoying mealtimes together as a family, spending time together and creating precious memories.  As one mum said, "Stepping away from the day to day duties of care is simply bliss.  Being able to be Mum and Dad again is the best gift ever, and we are so grateful".

Thank you so much for your support and donation:

£10 will pay for art therapy materials for one day.

£100 could pay for the families food bill for one day at a hospice.

£1,000 will pay for heat, light and power for one week at a hospice.
