Story

Please DO NOT use this page at the moment. Why? Because following a mix-up over a London Marathon entry, I've been upgraded from doing the Bupa Great North Run to my first full marathon; The Edinburgh Marathon on May 22nd. If you'd like to support me for anything, please support me for that! I don't have long to hit my £350 fundraising target. Just visit http://www.justgiving.com/ShortNotice and give whatever you can; it's all hugely appreciated by me and will help the British Heart Foundation continue their excellent work. Thank you.

Paul

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Bupa Great North Run JustGiving page. Having already paid £30 to take part, I'm committed to make up any shortfall if I fail to raise an extra £500 for The British Heart Foundation... <worried face>

Running in the memory of my late father, Mike Smith. 1940-2005.

On September the 18th 2011 I'll be running my first Half Marathon - the world's biggest - between Newcastle and South Shields. The Great North Run will attract 56,000 runners and I'm hoping to raise £500+ for The British Heart Foundation by completing it. To keep it interesting, I plan to finish in under two hours; a little under 7mph for the 13.1mile/21.1Km race - I'd adore it if you were to sponsor me :)

Why The British Heart Foundation? My father died of a heart attack in 2005 after a series of heart problems, at the too-young age of 64. His own father died of a heart attack in his 50s so there's a family link. Thus, for totally selfish reasons, I now support the wonderful work of the BHF!
