Story
Hi everyone,
This summer I was supposed to be doing voluntary work for 3 weeks in the Zagora province of southern Morocco with Oxford Development Abroad. Unfortunately owing to visa issues I shall no longer be member of the team but the project was to construct a fence around a school. For the aforementioned each of us had a target of £750, all of which goes towards construction materials and hiring local workers. I am sadly no longer going, but your money will still go directly to the project.
Oxford Development abroad is a student run registered charity that assists with small-scale, community initiated development projects. The village chose this project and our team shall be working with the locals. Our role is very limited and non intrusive, on lines of partnership with the community.
The project proposal states that the region has high levels of illiteracy, 60% for men and 90% for women. Infrastructure is a basic problem and a third party could assist with that. The fence would demarcate the school's boundary, making it less susceptible to external attacks. Plus both the volunteers and villagers would mutually gain from the exposure. The project is community initiated and they shall be making necessary plans, administration and selecting workforce.
Any donation you could make, big or small, will be going to a really worthy cause, and I’d really appreciate your support! Team members are paying for their own flights, vaccines, and other expenses, so every penny through JustGiving will contribute directly to the project.
