Sheffield High School runs this event every two years to raise money for Makomborero, a charity in Zimbabwe which gives scholarships to academically gifted sixth form students to enable them to take their A levels and go on to higher education. They are given a place at a prestigious school, food, housing and a loving family environment. 

Peter's Commute involves walking six miles to school from Whirlow Brook Hall, starting at 6.15 in the morning. This is done as the student in Zimbabwe who inspired this event, Peter, would walk 15 miles to school and 15 miles back every day, before he was given a place at Makomborero.
